The Principal as Coach: Seven Essential Questions

We will present the Principal as Coach model which is based on Stanier's seven essential questions:     Kick Start Question, A.W.E. Question, Focus Question, Foundation Question, Lazy Question, Strategic Question, and Learning Question. We will give examples of the questions and provide research from varying sources that backs up the strength of the model. We will also briefly present the practicum supervision model as an example of how it can be used in other settings.


Carol Fedyk

Practicum Placement Coordinator, UNBC
Carol Fedyk is the UNBC School of Education Practicum Placement Coordinator and Education Advisor and works closely with principals in three to six different school districts. Her MEd thesis was based on inquiry-based learning which led to a model for the Coaching Triad.

Andrew Kitchenham

Professor, UNBC School of Education
Dr. Kitchenham is the former School of Education Chair and has been a lifelong transformative leader. he continues his research in leadership, Special Education, educational technology, and Aboriginal language and culture preservation.
