As we continue to reimagine school and district leadership of ‘Supporting the Application of Foundational Knowledge about First Nations, Metis and Inuit’, we recognize the power of leveled leadership, cross cultural learning and the value of sharing our learning through stories.  The Calgary Board of Education, in partnership with Galileo Educational Network, addressed these important factors in two learning series. School leaders were supported in strengthening their leadership capabilities and competencies related to Indigenous cultures, histories, languages, contributions, experiences and perspectives as they engaged in collaborative and whole school approaches to capacity building. In this session we will share the second year of a research study about the Calgary Board of Education’s student-centered leadership learning series focused on building First Nations, Metis and/or Inuit foundational knowledge. The University of Calgary, in partnership with Calgary Board of Education (CBE) and Galileo Educational Network, have collected stories shared from series participants from interviews and site visits.  The stories will support current district initiatives to support all teachers in meeting the new Alberta Teacher Quality Standard (2018), particularly the competencies needed for applying foundational knowledge to practice.
