Amber Hester
Amber Hester, is currently a Program Coordinator with the Society for Safe and Caring Schools and Communities. She is the lead on the Alberta Safe and Caring Schools Audit Project. She has been in education for over 20 years. Amber has held a variety of leadership positions in both Alberta and Saskatchewan: Assistant Principal, Principal, Coordinator, and Assistant Superintendent. In her current portfolio she is responsible for assisting The Society for Safe and Caring Schools and Communities in providing a service for school leaders to evidence to what degree their schools are meeting safe, caring, welcoming and respectful. In her previous role as Assistant Superintendent, Amber worked closely with her district in the areas of: Safe and Caring Schools, Inclusion, First Nations Metis and Inuit Education, the Learning Agenda, Program Unit Funding, Community Supports and Interagency work, and supporting implementation of the Collaborative Response Model and Intervention Teams. Amber currently and in past roles has works with and lead collaborative teams include: Principal and Assistant Principals, teachers, specialists teachers and school social workers, psychologists and a variety of support staff. Amber is a past member of the Safe and Caring Schools and Communities Board of Directors and is involved with several other provincial organizations. Amber has presented at several provincial conferences and is looking forward to sharing her journey around an exciting new process schools can use to determine to the extent that their schools are: Safe, Caring, Welcoming and Respectful.
